Worst rental = Ford Aspire. Seriously, even the horn in that thing was pathetic.
Worst owned car: 1976 Mustang II four-cylinder. I love Mustangs, but that car just sucked. It was my first car as well, but even the nostalgia factor won't allow me to fondly remember it.

That's a tough one since the first three cars I had were all terrible, but I'm going to have to go with the first, an '88 Tercel 5 door, because it formed a crack in the engine block right before my 16th birthday, so I never even got to drive it on my own.

easy, I loved her, but she was a lemon.
I bought her from a buy here pay here type half mechanic half car sales place. that went out of business THE NEXT DAY! CEL had been removed, she wouldn't pass emissions, didn't get her registered for nearly a year. Litigation and harassment required to get money back. She had been recently repossessed and the previous owner stuffed terrible wheels under her, and took back his audio gear by cutting all the wiring.
I put a lot of work into her with new bits and oem replacements and fixing wiring and this and that, but I crashed her... then fixed her and eventually her gearbox turned teeth into shrapnel and she was sold for parts.
total love hate. easily my worst car though.

My first car, a 2010 Toyota Prius. I am glad to be rid of it now.

I wouldnt call it a bad car it was reliable, always started, and it was my first car a 1991 (or 3 cant remember) Accord 5sd wagon. It was a great to haul stuff and people around in but in the when it would rain or snow, i would get ether a pond or a frozen pond in the back seats. That was because the honda cancer is pretty bad on the wagons and water would splash up from the wheel well and get in behind the seats and trickle down to the passenger floor boards causing the ponds.
Also the front windshield supports basically started rusting out and the heat or cold dial snapped on the inside. So if i wanted heat or cold i had to pop the hood and turn the heater cord open or shut for hot and cold. (AC did still work surprisingly)

I'll readily admit it was my VW pickup. Most of it was neglect-based things, though, not pure unadulterated evil. Brake master started to fail slowly and poisoned the booster, the alternator and AC compressor mounts kept shaking loose and eventually required new hardware, I had to repair the door cards, it had a long issue with mustiness from the floorboards getting wet once, I had to rebuild portions of the front suspension, I had issues with the wheels throwing weights, I had a set of glow plugs go completely dead in 20 degree weather, the radiator failed, the shifter bushings were so dead I'd mix first and reverse, the AC condenser got hit with a rock, and its most spectacular act of perfidy was when the oil filter (due to a *specific* vibration harmonic) screwed itself partly loose going down the road and dumped three quarts of oil.
Most of it was due to things from before I got it and got fixed over time, but even so. I liked driving it a lot even with all that.

OMG, my dad told me a story about how he did the "how do you like my crappy car" joke on a blind date when he was younger, and (like the Tweet) it backfired.
The blind date was my mother.

I enjoy my car being a "project" it's pretty reliable (only left me on the side of the road once so far), but the amount of times I hear someone ask why I don't get something newer annoys the crap out of me. I enjoy my vehicle and fixing small things that break (or even large things) is fun for me...it makes me happy hearing that from someone else. (i know a lot of people here share that same position but it's still nice to hear it, or read it)

It's funny, for a while, it was annoying the shit out of me with the AC compressor, et al working loose going down the road, to the point where I couldn't stand driving it - I'd have to listen for things constantly. By the time I got most of it fixed, though, there was a real sense of a job well done and some sentiment with its passing. (Sold it to get my Rover painted).

My early 90s Subaru Loyale. It had no power, was pathetic even with a stick. The a/c would overheat the engine, so i could only use the a/c in 10min intervals on really hot days. It threw no heat what-so-ever which was fun in the winter living in Wisconsin and all, could never figure out why (new thermostat and heater core before it was sold). I wish my dad hadn't sold it though because it would have been an awesome "i don't give a shit what happens to this" car...rallyx? yes...need a battering ram? here you go...want to go offroading? me too...

A'mma let you finish, but I will tell you that I won the Internet with my 2nd car in college. A 1983 Renault Alliance - Owned it for 10 months, did 2 head gaskets, radiator and hoses and this POS did more miles on TOP of a tow truck that it ever drove itself. No one in Memphis had a clue how to fix it. Not even the 'eagle' dealership. (Which gave up trying to fix it!) How many of you memorized the tow truck number due to a single car? By the time the 3rd gasket was dying, I found a BHPH dealer 2 miles away (car would overheat at 6-7 miles) and traded it in for whatever the hell they gave me. This car gives me PTSD - when I look at someone driving this I cannot imagine why or how the car survived. Kenosha's gift from hell to the US.
